About me
Portrait by Destiny Green
My name is Natalie Charqueno, I am a self-taught Chickasaw artist from Ada, Oklahoma who specializes in beadwork. I love to do various art shows, markets, and competitions to better share my creations with others. I have showcased my work at several noteworthy events, including but not limited to the Southeastern Art Show and Market (SEASAM), the Artisan Art Show and Market, the Mvskoke Art Market, and the Hushtola Art Market.
My focus may be beadwork, however I also enjoy working on other creative projects such as painting, finger weaving, and sculpture. I enjoy the ever-evolving relationship with my art as my style and ideas continue to grow with all that I learn along the way. I want to create beautiful wearable pieces of art that bring joy, confidence, and pride to those who wear them. I strive for my larger works to give people a new look and perspective into Chickasaw culture as well as myself as an artist and visual storyteller in a beautiful and compelling way. My art is a love letter to the Chickasaw people, community, and culture.
